A degree in fine art has informed the way I approach photography, particularly in the
consideration of balance and structure within a composition and the relationship of
an object and its negative space within a frame.

It is my belief that people are better photographed when they are relaxed and happy
in their surroundings. During portraiture sessions I will spend between one and two hours
with you and photograph you in a calm and relaxed fashion. There will be no posed work;
I will capture you at a moment when I consider you to be acting like yourself.

When I am hired to photograph a wedding, I take this as a real honour. I make sure that I get to
know the couple and exactly what sort of images they want from their day. I try to capture
the essence of the day and try to stay as much in the background as much possible. I find that
this way, you get a set of true natural photographs that will remind you of the day for years to follow.

I approach my sports and theatre photography in the same method. In this field of work I pay
particular attention to composition and the structure of the frame involving both the
players/actors and the scenery. It is the utmost challenge to capture the defining moments of
a match, fight or play.
